GMC LIFE
Without a strong, durable pickup bed, a pickup truck is essentially useless. That’s why the engineers at GMC put considerable thought into designing, engineering and manufacturing the Sierra full size pickup’s bed.
Whether you’re hauling an all-terrain vehicle to a weekend campsite or bringing home materials for a new woodworking project, a pickup can be quite a versatile tool – but without a strong, durable pickup bed, a pickup truck is essentially nothing. That’s why the engineers at GMC put considerable thought into the Sierra's pickup bed.
Sierra’s pickup bed is roll-formed from an advanced high-strength steel. Compared to a conventional stamped steel bed, Sierra’s bed is stronger, more durable, and lighter, meaning it’s more likely to withstand the job you have in store for it.
Strength is one aspect of a thoroughly and professionally engineered pickup bed, but ease of use is another. Sierra engineers and designers paid careful attention to how customers use their trucks, and designed a pickup bed that’s easy to use day-in, day-out. Available LED under-rail lights make it easier to check on cargo at night or when the box is enclosed by a tonneau cover, while available movable upper cargo tie-down hooks, each rated at 250
Accessing cargo in Sierra’s steel bed is simple, thanks to a number of smart touches. Sierra’s available EZ-Lift and Load tailgate is designed to both prevent the tailgate from slamming down when opened with one hand, and also reduces the effort needed to lift and close the tailgate. An available power locking tailgate lets Sierra owners to lock the tailgate with a push of a button. A Cornerstep rear bumper, along with ergonomically designed handholds integrated into the side rails, helps when climbing in or out of the bed to load, unload, or secure cargo. Tri-Mode Power Steps, available on Sierra 1500 Denali and standard on the Sierra Denali Ultimate, can move rearward to provide easy access to items at the front of the bed.
Between strong construction and smart thinking, Sierra’s steel pickup bed – and the Sierra itself – is more than ready to take on whatever task you ask of it.
