CRABWALK: DRIVING INNOVATION MOVES DIAGONALLY
Getting where you want to go isn’t always a journey that moves in a straight line. Sometimes you need to go right, left, or maybe, diagonally. In unique situations like these, when you require more flexibility out of your vehicle’s driving capabilities, GMC has you covered with CrabWalk™.
CrabWalk is a revolutionary vehicle feature from GMC, currently available on the 2024 Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 and 2024 HUMMER EV Pickup Truck and SUV. This versatile driving mode — exclusive to GMC — is part of the 4-Wheel Steer feature and gives drivers enhanced maneuverability by allowing them to move their vehicle diagonally at low speeds to help avoid obstacles and multi-point turns. With CrabWalk, you can confidently conquer nearly any terrain, empowering you to pursue driving adventure in new and exciting ways!
How It Works: Activate CrabWalk
CrabWalk has been engineered to allow the rear wheels of your vehicle to turn at the same angle as the front wheels, up to 10 degrees in either direction. This gives you the ability to drive diagonally at speeds below 20 mph, offering flexibility in a variety of driving situations. Whether you’re maneuvering through tight spaces, steering into an awkward parking spot or need help avoiding an obstacle on a narrow trail while off-roading, CrabWalk is ready for the challenge.
Activating available CrabWalk mode is easy. Bring your vehicle to a stop or crawl speed (up to 1.2 mph) and center the steering wheel. On the GMC HUMMER EV, press and hold the 4-Wheel Steer button for four seconds. On the GMC Sierra EV, open the Controls app on your infotainment screen, tap Rear Steering, then tap CrabWalk. Now you’re ready to move diagonally!
