Once downloaded to a compatible mobile device, you can then add up to seven loved ones to the “My Family” group. This will allow you and your family to experience key OnStar safety services:

Mobile Crash Response: If you or one of your loved ones need help following a crash — regardless of vehicle — the Guardian app is here to help. The app is designed to use your smartphone’s sensors to detect a crash and alert an OnStar Emergency-Certified Advisor. The Advisor will call your phone, connect with first responders and provide them with your location — even if you can’t reach your phone.

Roadside Assistance: Use the Guardian app to request roadside assistance from virtually anywhere. You or a loved one can get a tow, a battery charge, help with a flat tire, have the doors unlocked or even get fuel if you run out of gas.

Emergency Services: When the unexpected happens, the Guardian app is there for you and your family. Pushing the app’s red Emergency button connects you to an OnStar Emergency-Certified Advisor, a trained professional who can provide verbal assistance, as well as contact first responders and give your location. Advisors are ready to help 24/7 and are certified by the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch. The app’s emergency button also allows you to be a Good Samaritan and call for help to assist others.

Location Status: Put your mind at ease by knowing your loved ones are safe and sound with a real-time location map. The My Family group allows members to add an elderly parent, teenage children or a best friend. Then, by using Location Status, you can view and share location information with others in the My Family group. Location Status also provides real-time information, such as if they’re traveling or if a cell phone battery is running low. Everyone you add to the My Family group can stay connected and keep in touch with each other through the app.
