ABOUT TRAILER SIDE BLIND ZONE ALERT
Trailer Side Blind Zone
HOW IT WORKS
If equipped, Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert is a trailering feature that can provide outside rearview alerts when a moving vehicle is detected in a side blind zone that is extended to trailer lengths when towing a trailer. It can help you avoid lane change collisions.
Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert can detect vehicles a short distance behind the end of the trailer the vehicle is towing.
You will receive an alert icon on the side mirror when the feature detects a vehicle in the trailer side blind zone.
To turn Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert on, enable Lane Change
Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert will be active when the vehicle is out of PARK (or the parking brake is off on manual transmission vehicles) and you have a trailer attached. The feature is disabled when a trailer is not attached.
When a trailer is no longer attached, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert will revert to the previous on or off setting as soon as the trailer is unattached.
The feature supports trailers of different lengths depending on the vehicle. You can input trailer length as part of a trailer profile in the Trailering
THINGS TO REMEMBER WHEN USING TRAILER SIDE BLIND ZONE ALERT
- Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert only provides alerts. It does not operate the brakes or steer your vehicle.
- You should always check your mirrors, glance over your shoulder and use turn signals before changing lanes.
- Use your turn signal every time you change lanes. If there’s a vehicle in your blind zone, the alert system is designed to flash a warning on that side.
- Always be prepared to avoid vehicles in your blind zone, even when you don’t see a warning.
- The system may light up a warning indicator due to guardrails, signs, trees, shrubs and other non-moving objects. This is normal operation.
- Under bad weather or poor visibility conditions, the system might not function as intended. Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert uses sensors in the rear bumper to detect vehicles in your blind spot. Keep the sensor areas clear of obstructions such as dirt or snow to keep the system working properly.
