FOLLOW US

GMC trucks are engineered to awaken your sense of adventure and empower you to blaze new trails. Leaving behind pavement and hitting the mud, rocks, sand and snow requires capability. Taking on those challenges without sacrificing comfort is what inspired GMC AT4 trucks.

When you want serious action, you need a truck that can handle unforgiving terrains. For those looking to venture to uncharted territories, GMC took AT4 to the next level with AT4X — pushing the boundaries in premium off-roading.

GMC’s new lineup of AT4X trucks is the most off-road capable they’ve ever been, combining extreme off-roading capability, innovative tech and first-class interiors. While these trucks are all professional-grade quality with serious capability, each AT4X truck has its own personality and unique things to offer.

Continue reading to find out why the new 2023 GMC Sierra AT4X, the 2023 Sierra AEV Edition and the first ever 2023 Canyon AT4X are the perfect companions for your next off-roading or overlanding adventure.

SIERRA AT4X

The new 2023 GMC Sierra AT4X is the pioneer of premium off-roading, taking everything you love about the Sierra AT4 with amped-up capability and refined luxury.

The 2023 Sierra AT4X is distinguished by its new bolder, bigger look on the exterior with an intimidating redesigned front fascia and grille with gloss black upper and dark nickel inserts and stamped steel high approach front bumper with heavy-duty recovery points and winch capability. The Sierra AT4X also has 18" gloss black wheels with 33" Goodyear Wrangler® Territory Mud-Terrain tires.

Under the hood, GMC equipped this truck with a standard 6.2L V8 engine with 420 hp and 460 lb.-ft. of torque paired with an automatic 10-speed transmission. This high-performance engine gives the Sierra AT4X a max towing* capacity of up to 8,700 lbs. and a max payload* of 1,290 lbs.

The authentic power of this truck is complemented by several features that make it off-road ready, such as a specific off-road chassis and tuning, and a two-speed transfer case with a variety of selectable modes for multiple off-roading scenarios such as Terrain Mode — which is ideal for low-speed conditions, providing extreme control and precision enabled for one-pedal* rock crawling, using only the accelerator.

The Sierra AT4X also has front and rear e-locking differentials*, a combination not offered by any competitor in its class, designed to distribute torque and increase traction on uneven terrains. In addition, Sierra AT4X will come standard with Multimatic DSSV shocks and dampers that deliver exceptional off-road performance, control and comfort.

With the Sierra AT4X, the extreme off-road capability of this truck is matched with premium luxury inside the vehicle. The Obsidian Rush interior of the Sierra AT4X has been completely reimagined with supreme appointments unique to the AT4X trim. When you open the doors, you’ll immediately be drawn to the premium full-grain leather seats and technical-grain leather accents with red double-needle stitching and ceramic white accents.

This interior also is appointed with black-finished authentic Vanta ash wood accents; premium microsuede sun visors and headliners; small details such as AT4X badging on the seats and doors; all-weather floor liners with removable carpet inserts; and stainless steel-etched speaker grilles.

The luxury of this interior goes beyond the leather seats. The Sierra AT4X also offers elevated technology features. Most notable are the 13.4" diagonal infotainment center, 12.3" diagonal digital driver information center and 15" diagonal multicolor head-up display, offering over 40 inches (diag.) of combined driver-focused digital displays — the most in its class*. The luxurious tech doesn’t stop there — listen to rich sound with the Bose* 12-speaker Premium Series with Centerpoint Surround Sound.

This dominating truck has received a host of hardcore off-roading hardware geared for extreme off-roading and overlanding enthusiasts.

When it comes time to head off the beaten path, the Sierra AEV Edition is the most off-road-capable factory Sierra 1500 ever with tuned-up off-roading specs including a ground clearance of 11.2", 23-degree departure angle and 32.5-degree front approach angle. Adding to the off-road capability and rugged look of the truck, the Sierra AEV Edition features AEV race-inspired Salta wheels with a unique 12-spoke design and AEV’s signature recessed valve stem for added protection.

The Sierra AEV Edition delivers both off-road capability and enhanced protection for the trails. Sierra AEV Edition’s AEV-stamped front and rear bumpers are heavy-duty steel and are powder and e-coated for enhanced durability. The front bumper is also equipped with winch capability, making Sierra AEV Edition the only truck in its class* with a factory-installed winch-capable front bumper.

Protecting the underside of the Sierra AEV Edition is a complete hot-stamped boron steel skid plate package, covering the front approach, steering gear, transfer case, fuel tank and rear differential. These ultra-high-strength skid plates are more than 3.5 times stronger than equivolant cold-stamped high-strength steel, help protect vital components from the adversity of the trail.

Turn heads out on the trail with an exclusive AEV-inspired branding package featuring AEV badging on the front license plate, bumpers, tailgate and wheel caps, and AEV embroidered badging on the head restraints and branded all-weather floor liners. The exterior of the vehicle is also distinguished with black accents on the door handles and tailgate unique to the Sierra AEV Edition.

CANYON AT4X

AT4X Edition 1 Package shown is extremely limited availability. The Safari Bar and Front Grille Light Bar may block the front-view camera or limit the camera’s field of view, which will inhibit the HD Surround Vision system. Always check around the vehicle before driving or parking.

For the first time ever, the GMC Canyon is receiving rugged AT4X enhancements, raising the bar in capability, cutting-edge tech and uncompromising refinements.

With a bold new look, supreme performance-oriented interior, cutting-edge technologies and a host of off-roading hardware — the Canyon AT4X is the most advanced off-road mid-size truck*.

The 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X is the most off-road-ready Canyon ever with bolstered off-road metrics and a 2.7L Turbo High-Output Engine with GM estimated 310 horsepower, a best-in-class 430 lbs. of gas torque* and a maximum towing* capacity of up to 6,000 lbs. (5,500 lbs. for Canyon AT4X with Edition 1 package). This high-torque engine is optimized for uneven terrains with higher horsepower and torque than the outgoing 3.6L V6 engine.

For the first time ever, the Canyon AT4X is equipped with Multimatic™ DSSV shocks with dynamic spool valves for extended off-roading adventures. To help protect the underbody of the truck from rocks and debris, heavy-duty skid plating, a transfer case shield and rocker protectors are equipped.

Take on the adversity of the trails with Canyon AT4X with the Edition 1 package (limited availability), equipped with a host of extreme off-road hardware including 17" beadlock-capable wheels, performance front skid plate, front 30" off-road grille light bar, off-road front bumper with Safari Bar*, front and rear underbody cameras*, winch by COMEUP, and reconfigurable bed rails.

The cutting-edge technologies inside the Canyon AT4X leave the competition in the dust. Keep tabs on your surroundings with up to 10 available camera views*, more than any competitor in its class. These camera views will help you master the adversity of the trails, featuring a washing function for underbody cameras, and are waterproof for driving in mud or water.

Inside the vehicle, the Canyon AT4X has received reinvented digital displays including a new class-leading 6.3" diagonal head-up display, a standard 11.3" diagonal infotainment center touchscreen and an 11" diagonal fully digital multi-color driver instrument display — the Canyon’s first fully digital driver information center. The new Off-Road Performance Display is integrated into the infotainment center and instrument cluster, displaying real-time off-roading performance data in a convenient visual format.
